Carpet is slower than hard? I thought the Paris carpet was almost as fast as grass
Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls from Stockholm either, but if he plans on playing Paris (he's defending SF there, though it seems he could care less about points anyway) he should play Stockholm to get a couple of matches in - he'd have to win the tournament to pick up any points anyway pretty much, so aside from money and building match play for confidence going into Paris and Houston, there's not much point playing Stockholm. But with the semi-depleted field in Madrid he really had a good shot to pick up some good points there. Plus, he just looks like a complete asscrack for doing these exhibitions and appearing to be fine, then pulling out of an important tour tournament.
I think the next exhos he's scheduled for are not til after DC, when he's got his own charity event, plus he's going to both Mardy's and Brian's events. among others. This is according to the schedule on his site anyway. We'll see, I guess, how truly dedicated he is to DC = he seems to be willing to give his #2 ranking for it, and that could really cause him a problem early next year if he runs into Roger earlier than the finals of tournaments.
Glad to see you down here btw
