Re: The "Andy's Classy Win or Lose & That's Why We Still Love the Loser" Summer HC Th

I was beyond upset last night and I don't have internet access at home so I couldn't read all of the lovely comments on this board until now. I was pissed that Andy let it slip away but that was washed away as soon as I heard Novak's utterly classless interview after the match. I kinda sorta liked him but was losing that loving feeling but this totally pushed me off the train.

Oh Andy. Why can't I quit you?

Rafa is head and shoulders higher than everybody else, emotionally, physically, and mentally.
Since when is it ok to be so obnoxious at that age? on court like Murray, ok - at least the common wisdom is that Murray's a good guy off the court and maybe he's obnoxious wiht his muscle, but I've never seen him pull anything remotely close to what Novak did last night.

IMO, what Novak did is not about age and immaturity. Considering his parents, i'd say it's about how he was raised. Look at Andy - when his parents do come to see him play, and even when he was just a kiddie on the tour, they don't really ever even sit in his box, let alone hollering and hooting like crazies, even when their son is saying among the most poorly-chosen words of his life. But beyond that. Remember the situation with Andy and Ljubicic in 2003? Andy had just turned 21 (that day). Instead of blasting Ljubicic in public, Andy took the complete high road and dealt with it privately. He was obviously fairly mature at that age - at least mature enough to never ever do something like that. Thank god.

Where in my post did I say it was?

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Oh you didn't, I didn't mean to suggest that at all. I'm just saying I don't think Novak's outburst last night had anything to do with his maturity or lack thereof.

That first semifinal was a bit unreal for me. I cannot remember if I have ever rooted for Roger in a match.

I don't think I've ever cheered for Roger before. Ever. It was all a bit surreal.

Yea, maybe he could win one of those titles...ya know. Hopefully continue playing decent tennis all through the fall. Ever notice the players who post good results in the fall, post good/great results at the Australian Open? (Except: Nalbandian and Berdych) But generally this is true.
