Define irony.

Mathieu gives up that last game, and swings away on everything. Andy decides that's the game he's gonna go for some stuff and hits them all out or Mathieu just luckily blocks them back....

It is a real luxury to be able to watch without commentators.

Rafa's gonna kill him if he is willing to stand that far back.

Good clean serving here. Not that fast, very well placed. Those last two forehands by Andy! Wow! He missed the second one in the net...but damn! Ace. Yep, he wants to stay in Dubai for a little while more. Great second serve. And it's over! Nice.

oh Andy, biting your nails DURING AN INTERVIEW?

Yeah, your QF will be "fun" alright. You say you have to play very well to win, but will you (we know you can)?

Great, I'm excited for Andy against Rafa...nothing to lose, all to play for.

Andy is really having fun here.

I haven't been able to watch the matches but it sounds like Andy is looking inspired out there. Is this true? Because it would make me very happy to hear that. Usually, Andy is kind of glum when Roger crashes out.

And finally, we get the Rafa rematch.
I wouldn't call andy "inspired" - he looks fairly relaxed and in good spirits. he's definitely hitting his FH better than in Australia and Davis Cup, but I wouldn't call it 2003-4 esque either. He had some rough moments tonight but Mathieu really handed him some gifts. Andy should really consider himself lucky to be off the court with a win in 2 sets IMO.

I agree however Rafa stands just as far back as Andy does this should be quite entertaining if nothing else.

Some of the forehands were 03-04 esque, it's just he's varying it. Sorta bringing them in at odd times, I guess he's trying to work them in to his current game plan of passive never aggressive play. I could see how that might be a problem for him since, it sorta goes against the way he currently plays.

Absolutely!

It was nice simply to watch the players play without hearing the same old tired comments.

Nice forehands from Andy to start...

Deb was wondering where are these the rest of the time...

Yes me too. Andy really just swing away freely.
