I think so too. I also think if they hadn't won last year he might have gone as well but maybe I'm being too cynical.
Not that I'm trying to bash James for not going, if he doesn't think he can perform then I agree with his decision but the desperation to win it has gone now so maybe he doesn't feel as bad for pulling out and letting one of the younger guys have a go as he would've if they hadn't won yet.

Sure of course. on the other hand though, Fish is clearly the more confident player right now - Ginepri barely won a match all summer. And he's far and away a better doubles player. And he's got the "away tie on clay against spain" experience. And for doubles, surface is less important. there's no comparison between fish and almost any of the other American players in terms of doubles.
