I like Nole because he has a really fun, playful personality. He's a real Mr Showman who loves being loved by the crowd. He's not like Dima who only shows his funny side on paper and then all we see on court is a moody brooding jerk who attacks chair umpires.
I also like that Nole has matured a lot in the past year. He's shown that he can learn from his mistakes. For a while last year he was known for his phony injury time-outs and other gamesmanship tactics; Roger called him "a joke". I wonder if that was a turning point for him? That maybe he decided that he didn't want to be a second-rate champion who has to cheat in order to win, like Stepanek. Maybe he decided he wanted to be a real champion, one who could use his smarts to figure out his opponents instead of running for the bathroom or asking for the trainer. I have a lot of respect for people who show that they can learn and grow.
And I also get a huge kick watching him bounce the ball 20 times before he serves. The more stressed he gets, the more the ball gets bounced. It's very mesmerising. I can't stop counting the bounces.
