Hereís some of what I saw today:
Dementieva vs Bovina
I arrived in the second set when Elena D. was up 4-2 she then took the set and I was really hoping that the third will go her way too. No. She wasnít playing as well as she did yesterday, she made a lot of errors and her serve was really bad, very low first serve %, she made a lot of double faults when she really didnít need to L In the third set both players felt more comfortable on their opponentsí serve, there were many breaks. Anyway Bovina won. Right after the match finished Yeltsin came. Lena waved at him, he waved back, and she then gave him thumbs up. She then threw signed tennis balls in the audience and threw one to Yeltsin, he demonstrated it and everyone clapped J
Next match on Center Court was Kefelnikov vs Kiefer.
A man was sitting in front of me, who wasnít a tennis specialist, to say the least, but pretended to be one and Iím sure he was convinced he knew a lot about tennis, well he didnít. And before the match he was telling everyone in our sector that Kiefer will win, I told him that I thought his prediction was wrong so he offered a bet, if Zhenya wins heíll buy me a chocolate bar, if Kiefer wins Iíll buy him one. I agreed J
Zhenya was a lot better today, Nicolas tried to mix his game, he serve-and-volleyed a lot but Zhenya had an answer to everything, he was returning very well today, seemed relaxed and confident.
After the match Yeltsin and Tarpishev came up and kissed Zhenya
Safina vs Matevzic
Dinara played really well in the first set, I especially remember her drop shots, perfect timing, even when (and that didnít happen very often) Maja got to them Dinara only had to put away an easy volley. She played solidly and didnít give Maja cheap points.
Once Dinara had Adv on Maja's serve in an importaint game, Maja served an ace but the umpire said it was out, Dinara said the ball was good and it became deuce, when she could have won the point, she lost that game eventually but it was very nice to see
She was throwing her racket a lot though
In the second she was up 2-0 but then lost her serve, Maja made it 2-2, it then went on to 5-5 and Dinara suddenly lost her serve, Maja didnít waste this opportunity and took the set 7-5
After the end of the set Marat came and sat in a box with his managers and friend. Lena Bovina also came 5 minutes after she won doubles on court 2, she sat with Yeltsin and they were talking throughout the match.
In the third Dinara was up 1-0 with a break, and after that she lost her own serve, then Maja held and broke, every game was tense but MAja was luckier in the end, she won it in the third 6-3
I also saw a bit of Escude/Kiefer vs Eagle/Stolle (who would have thought the Aussies will win, they lost the first set 0-6, Joshua was playing badly but he probably found his game), Federer/Mirniy match, and bits of Kafelnikov/ Palmer
