Re: Early Commitments

I still can't believe Safin is coming here. I' may have to change my plans and be there for the whole week again.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

Safin Plans To Play San Jose, Vegas In 2007
By Tennis Week
11/17/2006

Marat Safin is ready to hit Vegas, is Vegas prepared for Safin? The 26th-ranked Russian will start the New Year adding two new American tournaments to his 2007 schedule: the SAP Open in San Jose and The Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas.

Safin is currently in Moscow practicing for the Davis Cup final against visiting Argentina, set for December 1-3 in Moscow's Olympic Stadium. Safin and Nikolay Davydenko are the expected singles starters against an Argentine squad led by reigning Tennis Masters Cup champion David Nalbandian, Juan Ignacio Chela, Jose Acasuso and Agustin Calleri.

After the Davis Cup final, Safin plans to travel to Valencia, Spain to train for the Australian Open. The 2005 Australian Open champion, who missed the Melbourne major last January while recovering from a knee injury, has advanced to the Australian Open final in three of his last four appearances in Melbourne.

"After Davis Cup, he will spend a week in Moscow relaxing and enjoying himself, then on December 10th he will go to Valencia to continue practicing and working towards 2007. No long holidays for Marat," said a statement posted on Safin's official website www.maratsafin.com. "Then back to Moscow to celebrate the New Year. He will head to Melbourne immediately after the New Year to prepare for Kooyong and to be followed by the Australian Open."
