Robredo for Hyundai Hopman Cup
Perth, October 4 - Former Hyundai Hopman Cup winner and world No. 8, Tommy Robredo, will return to Perth this summer to represent Spain in the ITF Mixed Teams Tennis Championship, partnering Anabel Medina Garrigues.
Robredo, the No. 2 Spaniard behind Rafael Nadal, has won two titles this season - the Masters Series Hamburg and in Bastad - and boasts a 42-23 record.
The 24-year-old Robredo is aiming for his first year-end ATP Top-10 finish.
Robredo was a 19-year-old rising star when he won the Hyundai Hopman Cup with Spanish legend Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario in 2002. His blistering forehand took Spain to a thrilling victory over the USA as he came back from championship point down against Jan Michael Gambill to level the final with victory in the third set tie break.
