I don't understand his bad luck. All these burned out players like Blake and Davydenko are playing their peak tennis when facing Juan.
I think he should skip Dubai and rest for IW.
Vamos.
Come on Delpo, you're a mental beast compared to Kolya...if you take your chances on these bp's, you can run away with this 2nd set. Kolya's level has dropped for sure.
I think this is a "bad day at the office" thing....Davydenko's not helping matters by playing well.... and if one thing goes wrong, it all goes wrong..... Delpo looks annoyed... (also not helping  ) If he can't calm down and focus...this is over.... better luck next time.
You guys all the cosmetic stuff (beautiful hairy chest, green eyes, smile, etc) is just superfluous...this mental strength after SO MUCH ADVERSITY is why I love Delpo to death....love my little pony! Wanna ride him all night long! LOL ok enough fangirl-ism LOL...
Damn Denko holds for 4-5 in the second set but Delpo has really turned up the heat. I'm proud of what I've seen from My Little Pony in the second set today, it bodes well for the future, whether this match is a victory or a loss...
Well Denko retired after Juan won the second set 6-4. Sad for Kolya as he was showing some great form again. Still, legendary serves and FH's from our man in the 2nd set, especially toward the end. Should not take away from his win at all.
Vamos Juan! He plays Gasquet next. Should be a good match as well.
Sounds like he was showing good form near the end of the second set and I'm glad Juan got the set before he retired, to at least show he was back to form. Gasquet next, hopefully should be easier this one.
To be fair Lawrence Kolya played some absolutely clutch tennis to save those 4 set points in the 1st set and Juan was subpar by his standards in the 1st set so I wasn't too mad about Kolya getting it in the end. Still, Juan raised his level BIG TIME in the 2nd set, and changed his tactics too. That's why he won that second set. Not really buying the "injury" from Kolya, just think he's tired from last week, but whatever. Who cares? Our man won! Yay!!!
:smooch:
For a good amount of time Davydenko dominated the rallies and would have deserved the win. But Juan was extremely and unusually nervous today. Horrible BP conversion again. After the break, he played on a different level. I'm pretty confident he would have won the 3rd set. Only thing is worrying is that he gets too nervous these days. Should control his feelings better.
I'm with Jay, I think a lot of it is down to how much time he was away from the game and he's struggled to really dominate or get back into it...he suffered a few upsets throughout the year and is climbing up getting some good wins here and there, and maybe his mental strength will improve.
We just gotta stick by him. If he can climb from ranking 485 to 11 he can do this
