Nikola Cacic

While the talk has been about Lajovic, and Krajinovic, Cacic has for the last couple of years been plugging away, doing ok in the futures.

He only turned 21 in December, so still pretty young, and he's just had by far the biggest win in his career - acutally it's pretty astonishing.

After qualifying for the main draw in Sarajevo, Cacic has knocked out the number 2 seed Michael Berrer today in three sets, 6-7,6-4,6-4.
So far this year Berrer has reached the semi final in Zagreb, beating Melzer and Ljubicic, and took Andy Murray to 3 sets a couple of weeks ago in Dubai - he's not in bad form, so for Cacic to beat him, is really very very impressive.

Also the way he did it. A lot of younger players will crumble after losing a long first set tiebreak, but Nikola rolled up his sleeves, and won the next two sets - Berrer served 22 aces in the match but Cacic still had the answers.

Next up is the winner of Josh Goodall, and Fabrice Martin, both ranked just inside the top 300. Nikola won't fear them, based on todays performance!!

Re: Nikola Cacic

Another 3 set win for Nikola, and an absolute marathon today, beating Fabrice Martin 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 7-6(4) in 3 hours. A decent win against another older player, ranked over 100 places higher than him, and now moves into the quarter finals with Dustin Brown, another decent server.

Great run though, through the qualifiers, and now into the quarters. Should go up around 30-35 places, and one more win takes him into the top 350.

Good luck tomorrow Nikola
