Re: Nikola Ciric

Lost to Dabul 7-6 in the third. That's no shame, but too bad. 29 aces

Can't wait for him to go and play on faster courts, indoor or something. That should be quite something.

Yep. Second round is against a lucky loser, and if he wins it he'll be in the top 200

Re: Nikola Ciric

Yep. Which puts him up to 197 with no adjustments for players around those places. I would have a look and see if any just above him have points to come off, or those below are gaining points this week, but i don't have time today

Anyway, it seems pretty sure he'll be in the top 200 at year end, which, lets be honest, is a magnificent achievement

And even more encouraging is that he has no points whatsoever to defend until May, and even then it's very small amount. Genuine chance to get up inside the top 150 if he has a couple of good tourneys early on. I wonder if he'll stick to clay in 2011?

Re: Nikola Ciric

Very good run, but we shouldn't get too excited I think. His best win was against Dabul. He played the worst challengers, and did very well on those. Don't know how he will fare in 2011 if he decides to play bigger challengers. I hope he decides to play more on faster surfaces with that serve.

But glad he is in the top 200. He is pretty old, where was he all the time? With that serve he should have gotten some better results than he had the last years.

Re: Nikola Ciric

Anyone knows what his plans are? Don't see him in the EL of Sao Paolo or Noumea. Is he playing qualis in one of the ATP-tournaments? AO qualis afterwards?

Yep the ranking seems pretty accurate; I feel sorry for the players though who must make a long trip overseas with several expenses and it's not even sure if they qualify.... probably the reason why players on breakthrough are passing on it.
Then again, his schedule clearly hints participation.

Re: Nikola Ciric

Wow, that's quite a trip and he chose the toughest tournament. But he won his first round, hope he qualifies.

Re: Nikola Ciric

Well, his first ever GS qualy draw is out, and it's Ryan Sweeting. Tough one, but if he could get through it, then it's the toughest match he'll play in qualifying. The other seeded player in his section is Lukas Rosol, so the match against Sweeting represents his chance for me. Win that, and he's got an excellent chance of the main draw.
And, he has beaten higher ranked players, on clay, where his serve should, in theory be less effective.

Needs to be cranking that serve up to the maximum tomorrow morning. First up, court 5. About 11pm CET.
