Fedal with jmdp injured again, mardy with his heart condition, nando and feli withh their brain conditon, i'm very close to declaring tennis is dead in my sig if i have to put up with nothing but mule matches

Ild, that sucks about your left foot. Is the surgery meant to correct/support the arch issue or is their another problem? If at all you can avoid surgery, i would be so happy. My roomie had bunion surgery thanks to wearing very narrow heels for a very long time, and that seemed so painful.

Bets, stop drinking and go knock some sense into mou for me

WG!
Bunion can be a very painful condition, it's hereditory and my grandma had it, I have it too thanks to those high heels and stuff but hope it won't get any worse. And yep better to avoid surgery.

Tennis is not dead, Rafa & Fed will be back before you know it.

Because the arch of my left foot is quite high, the part of that left foot where my body rests on is very limited. Since a couple of years, my left foot is starting to hurt in one place. The doctor told me that one bone in my left foot is wearing out due to having to carry more of my body than intended. The doctor said that surgery isn't a given yet but it's certainly a possibility and he added that I should avoid it if I can because it is indeed a painful affair. Hence, the custom-made insoles (costs a lot but it's mostly paid back by medical insurance every two years) + the sensible shoes.

If I were filthy rich, I'd have my shoes custom-made.

Looking at the bright side: the advantage is that my feet are naturally already in the position as if I'm wearing very high heels all the time. Women wear high heels because it makes their feet look better and it gives them a particular sort of body posture. Nature has given me that body posture and foot position for free but sadly, it comes at a price.

Hilde, so when are you taking over the job from Wilmots. Last week during the WC qualies all these hipsters were talking Belgium up as already in the World Cup.

Told them to go and watch the USSR/Belgium match from Mexico and get some education. The current crop are long way from those guys.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Rafachat - vol. 79. Rafa to win the WSOP next year! Bamos! :rocker2:

The Belgian national team STILL needs to prove just about everything.

Take our captain for instance. Top man, has proven his worth for Man. City already. However, each time Belgium plays a practice match against a country (like The Netherlands in August), Vincent Kompany will just about all ways say that he can't play due to an "injury".
They're never going to be a proper team if they don't start taking it more seriously.
I'm convinced that Kompany's league team orders him to save himself so he has to invent an injury each time Belgium plays a match with no qualifications at stake.
I fear that Hazard and Witsel (who have more to prove yet than Kompany) will start doing the same more and more.
They've cost their team a lot of money so I understand it from their viewpoint. But don't give us the Belgian pride they've been feeding us in the last couple of months.

There's a lot of talent in the Belgian team but they're not functioning as a team yet. How can they when their mind is on their league team even when playing for the national team?

I like Vincent Kompany but I do wish he'd shut the hell up if he starts rambling about taking the Belgian team to Rio. I simply don't believe him. You don't get to qualify for Rio by only listening to what City orders you to do, Vince.

In short, I believe that the Belgian team is currently overhyped.

Kompany is doing the Djokovic faking injuries in the friendlies? That reminds me of Paolo Futre who always had muscle injuries when internationals were on but managed to be fit for his club matches.

Yes, they are overhyped and sure they have potential but that only counts for so much.

You're a Mechelen fan?

Davis Cup has these issues as well, though in theory football isn't an individual sport. At times it does seem like that.

Exactly.
Seen it so many times. Dynamo Kyiv in the 80s or the USSR side which was good enough to win a big football title. Portugal with Figo, Rui Costa and that generation. Argentina in Davis Cup.

Cool, just made an Eli Ohana reference and I knew he played for Mechelen, just wasn't sure if that was the side you support unlike Malisse who is a Kortrijk fan.

Yes, Maria they added an extra 1000m to the altitude.

Ooooh...those are fighting words.
You want a badrep this badly?

Belgium had a good team back them. Individually, they may have been less talented as the current crop but they were a "team", fighting for each other, united, focused. The current crop is overpaid and too busy becoming stars to be part of a national "team". Each player that wasn't willing to put himself on the line for the sake of the team, was thrown out. Vandereycken once was sent home in the middle of a WC for openly criticising Scifo for example. Granted, Vandereycken had a point when he said that Scifo needed to stop being a prancing pony and start functioning as a team player but he shouldn't have openly criticised his team mate like that.

We need somebody like Jan Ceulemans now. He was a rock for the Belgian team and he's a great, great guy.
