Re: Chat Thread "The Den of Spite and Iniquity"

I don't have much to report from the tournament today. I wandered mostly -- except for the Korolev match. I saw Gulbis practicing again. Again without a coach. He was with some handsome latin guy today. I didn't recognize the guy. He had a beautiful, blindingly white smile. They were playing points, but I didn't keep track. Gulbis in a grey t-shirt today. He was happy enough. He smiled with the latino guy teased. Some really tall guy was practicing - - Blondish hair, fine features. I asked someone who it was, and she said "Sam Querrey." Without thinking I just blurted, "That's not Querry." And then I felt bad. But I mean from a distance maybe because of the height, but his face -- completely different. Anyway, I'm afraid I made her feel bad.

Trying to think of the other guys I saw practicing. I'll remember later, I'm sure. Maybe Lee was there today and will give a better report.

Kevin Anderson?
No, not Eduardo Schwank -- He was practicing though. Gorgeous man. This was a smaller man. Very defined cheekbones. An angular face. Slightly Chino look -- although not as much as Coria or Rios. and VERY white teeth.

Yes, Kevin Anderson! I thought of that answer when I was in GM in the draw thread. It must have been. Thank you.

I did not see the Young match. Young is very troubling to me. I wish him well, but he has so much to overcome. First, his family doesn't really trust anyone so he doesn't get the best coaching or advice. Secondly, he is a young man very concerned with his "cred." But, there is no cred in tennis. So, he has this misplaced persona that doesn't serve him well. Tennis at the top is a soul scrubbing endeavor. If there are demons, the game brings them all out. The other thing is that he is very small. Not Rochus small, but delicate. I really don't ever see him at the top of the game or even near the top. He's a nice kid. A really nice kid, and I feel badly for him.

Haven't seen Nisikouri.

Forgot to say that I saw part of the Ram match. Berrer is so heavy. Sometimes I feel that the court will break under his stomping. Only Labadze can top him. A road runner came on the court during the match. Ram was so shocked. "What is that?" The crowd said "A Road Runner" He laughed and asked about Wily Coyote.

"refeo?"

Not as dark as Rios -- Sort of a Nico Lapentti look to him, but his face is more sharply defined than Nico's.
