Tennis + Shorts = A must?

Im going to be playing tennis this spring, and im wondering if wearing shorts is a must
i never wear them, mainly because i dont look good in them (arms & face are tan, but legs arent so much)
i want to wear some sort of light sweat/pant, but you never really see people playing tennis (or any sport for that matter) in pants.
i feel like its the only way to go, but at the same time dont want to be like the fat kid in the pool who wears a shirt.
quarter-length shorts might be good, but i feel they make you look stout, and that i minus well be wearing the sweats.
any suggestions?

Nadal's short is pretty long and covers very well his legs!! You should buy something like that!!!
