New Balls - Whats the difference?

I note that Dunlop have lost the contract to be the official tennis ball supplier for the French Open, to be replaced by Babolat.

Should we expect any difference in the way the ball plays?

Interesting Dunlop will still provide the match balls for all other clay court competitions.

If you lose it is probably down to the player and not the Tennis Balls

Dunlop tend to be a heavier ball used for clay. Dunlop Forts tend to be quicker than regular Dunlops. Dunlop Fort Roland Garros (now called clay court) is in the middle range of speed of the Dunlop Forts - not the quickest (Tournament) nor the slowest (Elite). The unique character of the DF RG is that it really is receptive to the conditons - slow and/or cold and it fluffs up an plays heavy and slow, hot and/or dry it feels lighter and plays relatively fast. Karlovic set the all time record for aces with this ball at RG in 09, but you should see it play in Monte Carlo this past week when there's moisture in the air!

Now the Babolat Team is a pretty quick Babolat similar to the RG ball but a little heavier. Maybe the tourn officials for the French will keep the Babolat similar to the old RG ball or speed it up a bit - I get the feeling they arent going slower,

No matter what they do no one will really know until its used as it will be a new ball- I guess called Babolat Roland Garros
