Stings and restringing

I hope this is the right section for this.

I am a relatively new Tennis player here (around year and a half of playing a few times a week) and have only had to restring racket once. This was in late summer. So, only a few months later, I find that my horizontal strings have cut into my vertical ones, causing them to be weak and snap. I do not understand why this would happen as it took nearly a year for my strings to break the first time (after buying the racket). I can't tell you the exact types of strings I bought, but they were $15 dollar Wilson ones in my local sports store. The tension was exactly what was recomended for the racket. I am going to get it restrung again and need to know what you think went wrong. Do I need to buy better quality strings or should I get it strung with less tension? Thanks in advance for any responses.
