Re: federer's string tension!!!

federer varies his tension between 45 and 52 depending on surface, opponent and weather. with the racket he uses there is no point in having a high tension, because the racket has enough control as it is. lower tensions allow players mores feel, more spin and a little more power. and if you think federer's tension is low, filippo volandri has his rackets strung at 33lbs

Also, the altitude where he plays changed the tension, for example in Australia.

pro players rarely ever break strings because the majority use of them use polyester in at least half of their rackets

Re: federer's string tension!!!

You have to have very tight tension and lots of spin to pop them (me.!)

Re: federer's string tension!!!

fed plays with a string bed where the strings are very close together therefore it doesnt need to be strung as high with someone using a larger racket head

a lower string bed will not give you more power just change the projection of ball will be higher therefore less control
it will give you more feel due to the ball staying on the strings longer.
