I'm looking to join a tennis club at the old age of 36. I've never had formal lessons and just used to play a bit socially when I was a kid. Is there anything I should look for when joining a club? There's a few near me, and to be honest I'm a bit intidimated turning up alone! Even for beginnings adult coaching. I have no friends with a similar interest to go along with me.
My current plan is to try the adult coaching at the different clubs and get a feel for what each place is like, as you don't need to be a member for that. I'm currently looking at either Oadby Tennis Club or Leicestershire Lawn Tennis Club as they are both very near me.
I'm guessing clubs are generally welcoming even to old beginners like me?! I've no idea really!
Any advice would be appreciated.
EDIT: Sorry just realised this post might be in the wrong section! Apologies if it is.
if I were you Id make sure that they played a lot of singles, if you want to improve your game you want to play singles regularly and doubles sparingly. Id go on their club days/mix in days see if you can find someone who is of a standard just a bit better above yours and see if you can hit on a regular basis. If your club is mainly doubles it'll hinder your growth as a singles player
