Adding More Topspin to My Game

I've been playing tennis for around 2 years now. I'd say I'm between a 3.5 and a 4.0 player, but I seem to be stuck their for a variety of reasons. The main one however, is how flat I hit the ball. The person who taught me the game also hits very flat, but somehow she's able to consistently grind from the baseline.

I on the other hand am rather erratic when forced into long rallies. Whenever I try to spin the ball a bit more it always lands short in the court, thus putting me on the defensive. You guys have any tips on how to add a bit more spin to my average forehand while maintaining depth?

I think you could try changing your grip, or maybe changing the strings on your racquet. The problem I find when you start adding top spin though, is that it seems to become more difficult to take the ball early, so you can hit a similarly accurate shot that is much easier for your opponent to retrieve.

Need to practice that big cursive "C" when swinging your racket. Also try flicking your wrist as you make contact, should give you that extra pop and top-spin you are looking for.
