Re: Chair Umpire thread

Every tennis federation organizes courses. Try to search something on USTA.com ...
In my case, I've partecipated 12 lessons about general rules, justice rules, internal championships organization, chair umpiring ecc ecc.
In february there will be an easy exam both test-quiz and oral stuff, and if passed I'll be able to start the whole stuff.
In the first year I'll be only a sort of alumni of expert officials and, about chair umpiring, I'll start with youngster matches as a stage.

cheers

Re: Chair Umpire thread

I'm going to be one as well! Well, I'll try my best and do whatever I can.

Here in Slovenia there is an exam to pass and then as a practical part of the exam you go and umpire one youngster match while they are watching and marking you!
Can't wait for the exam...it might be this year, if not so then next year.
My dreams are to umpire a challenger series or Umag ATP match.
Of course...there is a loooong way to go and only a few people make it so far.

EDIT: And by the way, I'll have to adjust my signature and bashing WTA Surely I'll have to umpire some lady's match sooner or later so I better get my attitude better...In 10 years time I'll be worshiping WTA, who knows.

No updates yet...but I've got myself a nice book where all the rules and procedures are, everything from A to Z.
As an ex player I know most of them, but there are still some tricky situations you may have as an umpire...

300€?
For how many umpired matches???

Re: Chair Umpire thread

If anyone has any further questions, let me know. I am an ITF silver badge chair umpire. Worked 26 grand slams as a line/chair umpire, and the last 2 Olympics. Always glad to help any way I can. Unfortunately, I don't know the beginning procedures to become a certified official in any country other than the USA.
