Problem with the sun

Yesterday i played tennis and it was everything good when I was turned to sun with my back. But then we switched sides and i had to serve.I couldn't get any of my 1.serves in.I just haven't seen them.My second serve was also weak, and i had a lots of double faults.I had a cap and it didn't helped me.I played good with forehand and backhand, but the serve was the problem.

Can you help me somehow? With some good tips?Thank you...

Re: Problem with the sun

I have similar problems, and like you I find a cap pretty useless. It'll always be the same for both players, so it's likely it was affecting your opponent too.

There are a few things you can do ----> wear sport sunglasses, develop a consistent toss so that you almost don't need to watch where the ball is, throw the ball up away from the sun etc...

Personally I try to alter my service motion very slightly. When I throw the ball up (with my left arm - I'm right handed), I try and use the left arm to shield the light from the sun. It kind of works. Though we don't get much sun in Britain so it's not a huge problem for me

Tip the brim of the hat lower over your eyes.

Also, take some pace off the serves if needed to get them in.

Changing the position where you serve might work.

Re: Problem with the sun

Use more spin serves, genearlly also unless youre pretty good at serving, your toss is in a differnet spot for spin serves than for flatter seaves.

Re: Problem with the sun

My coach tosses the ball at a different place to avoid the sun.

I can't do that, so I just wear sunglasses if necessary.

Re: Problem with the sun

Ya slightly adjusting you toss always helps. Try to toss in a way where the sun doesn't bother you. Whenever the sun bothers me I just go for kick serves because the toss is slightly different and a bit behind you so the sun never bothers me when i go for kick serves.
