Yep, but according to a guy who says he talked to his father in Besançon, they've given up on this very ambitious program in the US for another just ambitious one : play 2 Challengers in Morocco and prepare right away for the clay season... So that would be Oujda, Agadir (or have they changed the order? Marrakech, Khemisset?) and then his hometown Grasse's Future and then a try at the Monte-Carlo's qualies...

That's not a bad idea. He had some good results at the junior claycourt tournaments last year, if I remember correctly.

And playing a challenger instead of qualies for a TMS tournament is definitely less ambitious.

Re: ^^Jonathan Eysseric^^

Yep however the thing is that the guy said Challenger but all those Morrocan tournies are Futures... Anyway, i like the idea too. His favorite surface is HC so a long preparation for the transition to clay is good. Yet, he's definitely able to play well on clay though (European Championships, Milan tourny etc...).

Re: ^^Jonathan Eysseric^^

No upset today. He just lost 3-6, 6-2, 2-6 to Ascione.

A few match stats :
1st serve : 34/64 (53%)
Aces : 8
DFs : 4
Points won : 64 (68 for Ascione)

Bad start and very bad finnish (got broken in the first service game in the 3rd)... Lots of UEs. Yet, he played really well in the second. Nice attacking game when he's on! But it's true Ascione played far better in the last set.

Cya in Cherbourg hopefully!

Re: ^^Jonathan Eysseric^^

Pity, but taking a set off Ascione is a pretty decent result.

I doubt he would have managed to get into qualifying without a WC anyway.

That was the point, he could have gotten a WC for those events in the US.
But it's confirmed on his website now, he changed his plans: "Modification du programme, annulation des deux tournois aux states pour jouer au Maroc en qualification de Challenger 25 000 $ et 50 000 $"

Why would the USTA give him a WC?

Re: ^^Jonathan Eysseric^^

Interesting report by his father on his official website...

(intersting...)
