Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

Just think what his ranking might have been now if it hadn't been for the knee problem but still glad he's more than on track for the top 80 finish he wanted!

Glad he got direct entry into Lyon, since I'm planning on attending that tournament for a few days. I also agree it would be a good time for a breakthrough now.

Q. You must have so many different emotions going through your head. Was it like a rollercoaster for you?
STANISLAS WAWRINKA: Yeah, yeah, it's quite crazy..I never expect to win a Grand Slam.
I never dream about that because for me, I was not good enough to beat those guy.

Maybe the sky will fall?

Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

There are loads of withdrawals, unfortunately. The Metz tournament is still acting as if everybody would show up, but they've pulled out according to the PlayerZone.

Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

With all the players out and the bye for the the fourth seeds he can have a winnable first round who could give him confidence.

Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

7. Andreas Beck (GER) - Yen-Hsun Lu (TPE)
Adrian Mannarino (FRA) - WC Josselin Ouanna (FRA)

The reports about their last match in St-Brieuc sounded like a "who is the bigger headcase?" contest, I would have preferred somebody else! Somebody who doesn't know Adrian so well and underestimates his amazing talent.

Their h2h:
2005 France F12 Futures 16 Hard (O) J.OUANNA 3-6 2-6
2007 France F2 Futures 32 Hard (I) A.MANNARINO 2-6 7-6(7) 6-1
2007 France F12 Futures 32 Hard (O) J.OUANNA 6-2 4-6 3-6
2008 France F15 Futures SF Hard (I) A.MANNARINO 6-1 6-3
2008 Rennes Challenger FR Carpet (I) J.OUANNA 2-6 3-6
2009 Saint Brieuc Challenger FR Clay (I) J.OUANNA 5-7 6-1 4-6

Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

Their last meetings was finals, first round of 250 should be different and Josselin lost to Haenel friday in the open de la baie de somme. We hope the knee is right and good luck. They play tomorrow at 9.00.

Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

Quote:

Maxime RODHAIN.

Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

Nothing interesting, the pic is the highlight.

He was training with Marc Gicquel yesterday and looking very cool. He says he's glad to be back in Metz which is one of his best memories, of course. His 2009 season has been full of ups and downs, he could have done worse, but he definitely could have done better too. His knee has been bothering him quite a lot, he played most of the time without being 100%. His right knee is still strapped because of an inflammation of the patellar sinew, but it's nothing serious, apparently.
His morale sometimes was quite low and he says he was really struggling with motivation at times. But his average level was good enough to limit the damage.
He thinks the conditions in Metz suit him, even against players who are better ranked than him.
The point against Joss will be to focus on his game without thinking about his opponent.

Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

Their h2h:
2007 France F3 Futures SF Hard (I) T.ASCIONE 6-3 3-6 6-4
2008 Cherbourg Challenger SF Hard (I) T.ASCIONE 6-1 7-6(7)
2009 Besançon Challenger 32 Hard (I) T.ASCIONE 6-3 6-4

But he has never beaten Berrer, Clément or De Chaunac either, so it didn't matter. ^^

Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

The FFT guy wrote during the 1st set already that he had a problem with his right thigh.

The idea of Adrian losing to this "Beef" again makes me want to puke.

Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

He says he hadn't done any sport in the last 3 weeks because of the knee. After 5 games he felt completely out of shape already.
And as soulage said, he will stop for the rest of the year. He has a knee tendinitis, like a lot of players on the tour at the moment, it makes no sense to keep playing in pain.
He's talked about it with Dr. Montalvan already and it will take a long time because he will need to do a lot of muscle-redevelopment exercises in addition to the treatment for his knee.
