Re: Nicolas Mahut

He lost. Against a 32-year old guy who hasn't played a match for a year. What a disgrace...

Re: Nicolas Mahut

I didn't want to go to Düsseldorf, but I'm thinking of going one day if Nico is playing.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

This Rhodes event is such a pain to follow, does anybody know his result against De Voest?

"La gazette de la semaine" now says that the French team in Düsseldorf will be PHM-Chardy and probably a player with a RG wild-card, it doesn't mention Nico in particular:
http://fr.sports.yahoo.com/27042010/...a-semaine.html
It would make more sense.

Edit: He won 4-6 7-6(5) 6-3. What a battle again.
He should really make it to the QF at least now with both seeds out in his part of the draw.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

Thanks for the score the Rhodes livescores sucks. King Turner is a big server so Nico has to stay very concentrated all the match to take it. For RG WC we can say that all the players who need the WC are not doing well lately I mean Ouanna, Recouderc, Sidorenko and others are not showing they deserve one more than others execpt they are younger than Nico but i found strange that Nico would have already one The list of Dusseldorf is sure ?

Re: Nicolas Mahut

Defeating De Voest is pretty good I think, a lot better than Econimidis, considering he lost big today against a mug. I hope Mahut builds on this win and makes the most out of the loss of Chiudinelli.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

Solid again. Nice revanche after last week. Sijsling next up will be much more difficult, but I think he's the favourite.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

Yes good win.

He entered RG qualies it would mean Dusseldorf is not sure and that a MD WC either.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

Hey fellow Nico fans

I've always loved Nico and his beautiful aggressive game and nice personality, cool to see I'm not alone.

Anyway, why wouldn't Nico get a WC for the French. I think he should/will get one, and maybe he's just entering the qualifying as a backup in case he doesn't. The fact he entered Dusseldorf means to me that they would not announce him on the team without a WC for the French, they wouldn't screw him up that way. I think it's a good sign for Nico.

What's most important right now however is this tournament in Athens, where Nico has a good shot at a final if he plays well, and continuing gaining points to the top 100 in time for US Open. Sijsling is a tough opponent, so I wish for the best!

Last year he didn't get a MD WC for RG. There are only 6 WC given by FFT and many guys in the ranking between #100 and #200 want one. For Dusseldorf i don't know why the fench gazette didn't mention his name if he was on list Let's see maybe he will get one but not sure yet.

He lost today in a third set tie-break He should be back in Bordeaux on clay next time.

Hopefully he can get another good result in Bordeaux and make the FFT give him a WC!

I hope and expect him to get one, more than anything else, I think he deserves one over other players. But we will see what happens. I personally see him going to Dusseldorf as the sign he will get one, or thinks he will.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

Good luck Nico! His S&V and aggression can cause a lot of problems to players on clay when they want to stand far back and have time to execute their shots. Hopefully playing in France and having the crowd support will help Nico to have a great result in Bordeaux!

Nico plays Kunitsyn in R1, with the winner playing Serra or a qualifier. It's a decent draw for as strong a challenger this is, hopefully he can do some damage in Bordeaux.
