Re: Nicolas Mahut

Thanks!
Solid job again from Team Lagardère. Nico started working with Soulès in August, so it lasted at best 3 months.

I only know that Zimbler used to coach Saulnier and also Santoro for a while. No idea how he looks like. Where is Santoro, btw?
ERV and Ascione don't belong to the Team Lagardère anymore, afaik, because they're not good enough. There was an article about the changes in the Team a few weeks ago in Les Echos ("Les illusions perdues du Team Lagardère"), but it doesn't seem to be available anymore. It's probably somewhere on the World Wide Web.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

More Coaching movements. Seems they are just willing to give Nico the "leftovers"...
Well I hope Nico gets to keep this coach a little longer than the others, surely hasn't helped his performances this year.

Q. You must have so many different emotions going through your head. Was it like a rollercoaster for you?
STANISLAS WAWRINKA: Yeah, yeah, it's quite crazy..I never expect to win a Grand Slam.
I never dream about that because for me, I was not good enough to beat those guy.

Maybe the sky will fall?

Re: Nicolas Mahut

Thanks to Soulage for the heads-up, Nico was on the Moscato show with Bennet, I just listened to it:
http://www.rmc.fr/podcast/podcast.php?id=131 (it starts around 35')

No scoop for us, they're asked very basic things about French tennis (he means that Jo has the best chances to become the first French world number 1 in the future, but they don't think a Frenchie will win a Slam in 2009 already), the Davis Cup, the Olympics (playing in DC and at the Olympics is a huge dream for both), Roland-Garros (not a dream for Nico!)... He means Mauresmo can still win a Slam and people shouldn't write her off yet.
(Julien gets a Nadal questionnaire), but I've already forgotten most of it. One of the questions is if like Federer, who now has a super friendly image, he wasn't always so nice before becoming a celebrity. So Nico answers that he still is a nobody and they both mean Fed has always been extremely friendly off court anyway, they seem to adore Federer like most Frenchies.
They poke fun at Llodra who always picks his ass like Nadal before serving.
That kind of stuff, it's really not very interesting, but it's not their fault!

Re: Nicolas Mahut

He withdrew from the Masters France, he has a little tear in the shoulder, he doesn't know yet when he will be able to practice again. It doesn't sound too serious, though, he says it happened about 10 days ago and he obviously was still hoping to be able to play yesterday.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

It doesn't sound good at all for the AO, he had an MRI for his shoulder yesterday, no tear anymore, but he'll have to do some rehab now. He will take a decision tomorrow.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

It looks like Nico will have a "chronique" in Ouest France in 2009:
Quote:

He does't come back in Heilbronn indeed and he will also not play next week. He could come back for the qualies of Rotterdam.

L'Equipe writes today he hopes to be back in Marseille, so I guess he will retire from the Rotterdam qualies too.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

He's still recovering from a shoulder injury which forced him to pull out of the Masters France, the Australian Open and all the other events in 2009 so far. He's also withdrawn from the Rotterdam qualies next week.

But it looks like he will really be back for Marseille, I see he also is on the doubles entry list (with Gilles ^^), so I guess his shoulder is feeling OK now.

Re: Nicolas Mahut

He will play only in doubles in Marseille, it would be too much for his shoulder otherwise:
http://www.lequipe.fr/Tennis/2009020...fait-long.html

He also talks about the changes of coach again, says it's his fault too if it disturbed him that much last year to have to share his coach just before Wimbledon. Now he's "immune" and deals much better with the new change of coach. He is now aware he shouldn't rely too much on his coach, but only on himself.
