Seems Florent can’t get on with the weather conditions of South America
. I don’t know why it happens, but maybe it’s logically
. During his professional career he’s played several challengers in S. America and he had 5 losses in the 1st round (in 2003, 3 times in 2004, one more in 2005). On other side he played in a quarterfinal in 2003 and even won Mexico City challenger in 2005. And last year Florent won on clay almost 3 times more matches than he lost
. So I don’t actually know what happens with this guy now, after such a great beginning of the season
Anyway the last tournaments in the recap look the next way. Flo (with his 37th ranking position) loses in the first round of Buenos Aires to Calleri (96th of the race) 0-6 4-6 and then retires from the second round of doubles due to acute allergy
. Last week he plays in Brazil, wins with a supreme effort the first round against Dlouhy (140) 6-3 2-6 6-4 and then loses to Monaco (71) 1-6 1-6
. And sure there is a loss in the first round of doubles. I’ve got the info that Florent was slack and not so active in his matches and that the Europeans just aren't dealing with the South American humidity at all. Although Florent’s countrymate and doubles partner Patience felt himself quite comfortably and lost in the semis only
After all, yesterday Florent lost his first match in Mexico against Marin (103, Q) 4-6 7-6(4) 4-6...
Sure he tried hard but something really goes wrong... And that’s very sad
. Tonight he plays a doubles match in a couple with Vicente (who played in doubles semis 2 weeks ago) against wild carded Mexican couple.
And not everything is so sad! Today it’s Florent’s 25th birthday
. Bon anniversaire Flo
! Still young, still full of energy and ambitions. Allez!
