Davis Cup 2014 | First Round is Australia

Wonderful from Richie and Jo this two days . I like the Tsonga/Gasquet pair for the doubles, but I think Jo should rest on more difficult ties on doubles and just play singles and let Gasquet/Benny play doubles, they were great at the Olympics. I'm liking a lot the new approach Arnaud has brought into DC, Gasquet and Tsonga are great in singles plus they can play great in doubles so IMO France doesn't need two doubles specialists for DC, it's better to bring just Benny, who can also play singles.

Gilles Simon
Benoît Paire, Edouard Roger-Vasselin,Nicolas Mahut, Jeremy Chardy, Aljaz Bedene, Florian Mayer, Tommy Robredo, Evgeny Korolev, Albert Ramos, Guillaume Rufin

Great pic. Thanks! Benny and Gael both won in straight sets today (against Kokkinakis (Benny) and Kyrgios (Gael) ) so France win 5-0.

I dont' think he will. He has again personals problems. Edouard Roger Vasselin could be in the team and Simon as the fifth again.

ERV would be a good option, IMO. He is in good form, and Benny/ERV are good doubles team too.

With Haas out, France are huge favourites.

I think it will be later today. Clément is in Miami and is not yet 7.00 am there. My guess is Richard, Tsonga, Benneteau and ERV. I saw the first set from ERV against Wawrinka yesterday and he was not bad, lots of variation, just came a little short, I still have to get used to see Wawrinka serving 134 and 137 m/ph, though.

That would be my pick too. I'm more interested in the German team. It will be very weak. Kohli with someone from Kamke, Beni Becker, Reister, Brown, Struff. That's really a terrible team. No matter what team France goes with, they have absolutely no business losing to this German team.

Re: Davis Cup 2014 | Quarter vs Germany

French team announced - very tough on ERV, but hopefully this will help Gael get through his problems.

Davis Cup ‏@DavisCup 6 mins
France's team to face Germany in the World Group quarterfinals is @richardgasquet1, @tsonga7, @Gael_Monfils and @julienbenneteau

So much about the two of us as experts.

This is a sign of confidence from Clément for Gael, he better lives up to it.
