Re: Olivier Patience anyone?

He made the contrary of Marc Gicquel and lost after leading 2 sets to none against Jonas Bjorkman... It seems to always be his fate in GSs' R1, losing in 5 sets... 7-5 6-4 0-6 1-6 2-6...

From Aloïs Beust's page, a few pics from tours in South America, North Africa, some training camps etc... with several players (Thierry Ascione, Jérôme Haehnel, Olivier Ramos, Olivier Patience, Éric Prodon, Jean-Christophe Faurel etc...)

Re: Olivier Patience anyone?

cool pics thanks!!

unfortunately Olivier hasn't been doing as well as he did last year in South America - loss in RR in Viña del Mar, 2nd round in Florianopolis, 1st round in Costa do Sauipe and now I've just seen he lost first round in BsAs qualies

Maybe he'll play doubles with Devilder again..

Re: Olivier Patience anyone?

Eysseric is a young French player...he was the finalist at the junior Aus Open this year...Olivier should beat him...and currently he's 6-1 3-3

Re: Olivier Patience anyone?

He's in the 5th set against Mariano Zabaleta on Court n°7...

Crazy match, crazy points. French tv is showing it now. Olivier will lose but at least we will have seen good tennis.

Olivier is too far behind is baseline tiring himself up and not venturing to the net as much as he did at the beginning of the match according to commentators. Loosing his lucidity and playing a game that suits Zabaleta much better...

2 MPs for Olivier! Who would have thought?

ACE! Well done Zabaleta!

One left. He did it! Woaow!

7-5, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, 6-4. WC deserved.

Re: Olivier Patience anyone?

First of all, I come here in peace *offers olive branch*

We, in the forum of Olivier's next opponent, are very unfamiliar with his game, so we don't really know what to expect, and were wondering if you could just tell us a little bit about how he plays, what his strengths and weaknesses are, etc.

Other than that, hope it's a good match And... thanks

Troicki - Djokovic - Del Potro - Kyrgios - Berankis
Cibulkova - Robson - Kirilenko - Azarenka
Retired but always loving Ferrero - Ancic - Kiefer

OK so first of all, you have to know that Patience has a terrific serve that he's able to kick or slice when he wants. His Fh is awesome, and I remember Gonzalez trembling the first time he saw him play. When Gasquet and safin saw his BH they were totally demoralized yesterday (yes that's why...). And eventually Edberg and Rafter are dying to have this volley. But GL to Djoko, he's got time to learn.

More seriously now
He's a decent claycourter with FH as his best shot, a decent two-handed BH and a not so bad serve. Sort of complete but he's got nothing special to hurt Djoko actually - except in a karaoke perhaps.
