He said it's not good for him to have to listen all of Forget's advice and cheerings on the chair while he has to think about how he has to play (and I guess he knows better how to play than Forget
not only because he knows better his own game but also because I think he understands the game, esp modern game, better than Forget).
I think he said it in response to Forget’s comments about his game in Jan, Forget said sth like Gilles analysis of the game is not useful or sth like that. So they are pretty much both saying the other is wrong. But then, Gilles is the one who has to execute his own game, and Forget is not his coach, it is not possible to play it the way Forget wants him to play in an instant.
Also, the media is looking for news, controversy to be exact, that’s what they do. They asked Gilles what he thought about Jo’s injury when Jo w/o, Gilles said he has no problem, and then they asked Mika and Mika said sth. If Mika has no problem, they’ll probably keep asking someone until someone said sth. And then now, suddenly Gilles who already said at the beginning that he and Forget didn’t see things eye to eye, suddenly got forced into being the “leader” of the team and have Forget saying he relies on Gilles now. The journalists aren’t going to let this golden opportunity to pass them by. I don’t blame them, they are doing their job, create controversy when there’s a chance. And should Gilles keeps his mouth shut, sure, it would be better for him to act the obedient one who only wants to please the boss : Simon, the reluctant team player, blah blah, how noble. It may even get him so approval from the naysayers. But no, that’s not his style, he said so himself.
Anyway, this DC team, what a fiasco, no one agrees on anything and no one wants to be there. And if Gilles said it is a burden, does it seem like the truth to everyone now? eventhough no one but him dares to say that. I almost hope that they will lose so we don't have to hear about it for the rest of the year. Ok, there'll be the playoff if they lose, oh well, there's no escape
