Re: Dc 2011

Thanks Lala for the info.

So Spanish DC is running scared - needs Nadal ready to play . Maybe Team France should check out those drugs they want to use to help Nadal overcome jet lag .

Got no idea how these guys hop from continent to continent playing such high level, demanding tennis a few days after they step off the plane.

Hope everyone on Team France is feeling great and ready to pull off a giant upset.

Re: Dc 2011

Apparently it will be Tsonga, Simon, Llodra & Benneteau with Richard missing out.

Re: Dc 2011

Nadal says it's nearly impossible that he gets selected on Friday, because of tireness. Verdasco and Ferrer will open unless Rafa is 100% on Friday(very unprobable)

Gilles Simon
Benoît Paire, Edouard Roger-Vasselin,Nicolas Mahut, Jeremy Chardy, Aljaz Bedene, Florian Mayer, Tommy Robredo, Evgeny Korolev, Albert Ramos, Guillaume Rufin

Strangely enough, no other site has this information. I can easily imagine it to be true, knowing Forget's love of hierarchy and the doubles, but frankly - I highly doubt that it was out to the media already yesterday.

Re: Dc 2011

L'equipe goes for Jo and Gilles on friday and Richard-Mika on saturday. If Nadal skip the friday we could have Jo-Verdasco and Gilles-Ferrer.

Re: Dc 2011

Allez les blues!! If Nadal is out I'm sure they can do it, if he is in..not so sure. Gilles has been playing better lately (he did win his 500 title last month on clay too) however his DC record is a little worrying.

Gilles Simon
Dimitrov • Mahut • Paire • Hewitt • Raonic • Berdych • Gulbis • Murray

Thanks for the memories... Andy Roddick.

Forget still hasn't decided but he has a good idea of what the team will be.

Re: Dc 2011

WLT has a long interview wit Roux, the co-trainer, which seems to exclude Benneteau.

http://www.welovetennis.fr/interview...oit-a-realiser

And according to some twitter posts, Richard defeated Gilles 6-4 6-2. Unless he played really great, I would not read too much into that, Richard has always been a bad match-up for Gilles.

Re: Dc 2011

I have a rules question. In the Spain-France tie who will play on Sunday if

GAsquet plays Nadal on Friday and Simon plays Ferrer, and Forget wants to align Tsonga on Sunday, he will have to play Ferrer as Simon has already played him. So if Forget wants Tsonga versus Nadal he has to let play Gasquet or theoretically Llodra against Ferrer assuming that the ties are still relevant of course and the Spaniards don't change.

My understanding of the rules is that only the ranking of the two players initially selected for the singles matter. The Friday matches can't be changed (i.e Gasquet-Nadal & Simon-ferrer) but on Sunday, Forget can replace either of them by Tsonga, regardless of the ranking hierarchy. Gasquet-Ferrer & Tsonga-Nadal or Simon-Nadal & Tsonga-Ferrer are both possible as far as I know.

Re: Dc 2011

Not much of a surprise actually; as usual, Forget badly wants the doubles win.

Re: Dc 2011

Well isn't FOrget tricky . Using Gasquet as the "sacrafical lamb" against Nadal but somebody has to do it and a good idea it is RIchard as long as Tsonga can be subsituted for either spot on Sunday (not that a tired Tsonga on clay has a much better chance).

Rumors are that Nadal is still suffering from USO fatigue/jet lag, etc. and may not even play Friday.

What's with Forget and those doubles. Lopez/Verdasco is a good team that plays together a lot; I'm not sure if any combination of current French team members will beat the Spainish team, especially on clay where Llodra is much less effective.

But never know in DC. Could be an intersting weekend. Allez Les BLue!
