Two weeks!

Monfils in doubles? Even Forget would not do that. Llodra on clay?

If Simon is selected he has to play Melzer on Friday, that is again a match against the opposition's nr 1, I am not saying that Gilles can't win this, but it is nót the easiest situation. But it might be a bit early to start speculations about it, although I am getting excited, got my tickets today.

Re: Dc 2011

It will be a cruel joke if Forget makes Gilles plays Melzer on clay in Austria. I'll really be pissed if Forget do that to Gilles. He has no reason to do that, unless Forget feels the need to prove a point. I'm really getting a sense that Forget is not liking what happened: journalists asking him if Gilles' victory over Troicki is rubbing salt into the wound. He must felt somewhat humiliated, even if the Sydney final has nothing to do with the Belgrade final. The way he talked about Gilles on the paper, it's like him discounting Gilles. Maybe the translation was bad, maybe I misunderstood, but I doubt he's fond of Gilles at the moment. With Richard and Gael both good on clay, there's no reason for him to play Gilles. I love Gilles, I want the best for him, but this is not at all a good thing if he has to play Austria on clay.

forgetme said that gilles don't feel good on clay even he would like to play. he told to richard and jo to play the double in hambourg (not sure for the city) and he's happy that gael is playing in accapulco where this is clay. he said jo is far of his real level. So, wait and see, there's time !

Monfils certainly not playing doubles. And Tsonga on clay - probably not the best option. Even Llodra not a sure thing for doubles if it's on clay, especially after his last performance. Richard is actually pretty good on clay, I think better than SImon so RIchard might have a shot at a real spot.

THis clay DC tie comes right in the middle of indoor and preparation for outdoor hard in IW. If Gasquet does AGAIN end up being #5 I REALLY REALLY hope he says "no thanks" this time and not screw up IW preparation for yet another opportunity to sit on the bench and help others practice.

A lot could happen between now and then and one never knows with Forget but being away on clay makes things a lot more uncertain than they already were.

What do you think?
Because Forget will definitely choose players out of the top 100

I don't think Simon should be ahead of Gasquet on Clay.

I think it should be:

Monfils, Gasquet, Llodra, Clement

Monfils & Gasquet for the Singles and Llodra & Clement for the Doubles.

I think it's important to have 2 specialist players for the Doubles and it's on the clay aswell. So Tsonga and Simon to miss out.

Re: Dc 2011

If Forget was not so conservativ he could try new things. I mean i don't know how will be Bennet in Rotterdam or Marseille but Nico Mahut is starting well the year and can still be an option in doubles. And Richard's injury could cost him the selection again If no more injury we have 3 spots with Jo, Gael and Mika as Gilles doesn't sounds like an option on clay for Forget and he's not a double one either I would say that one titular spot is not define yet and for sprarring it will depend of that last spot.

Re: Dc 2011

Damn 6 weeks out http://www.welovetennis.fr/gael-monf...endant-un-mois

So who will be the second single player on clay For Gilles Forget was not so enthousiasic and play Melzer on clay the first day would not be a gift for Gilles Who can beat Melzer the first day Richard in a good for sure but he has this shoulder problem, Bennet is not at his best and Jeremy is not ready mentally. The choice is not so clear now. I would have bet on Richard if this shoulder was ok.

Re: Dc 2011

Monfils out...

I guess Tsonga will be the number 1 now and if Gasquet has recovered from his shoulder injury he will be 2nd, well he should be IMO.

Llodra & Benny/Clement for the Doubles.

But Gael's absent probably solidify Richard's selection though, provided that Richard is fit to go.
Roux said on L'Equipe the paper that the selection is likely to be Jo, Richard, Mika and Benny...

Re: Dc 2011

Thanks for that. Nice hearing Simon being honest and saying there were better clay court players than him and it was best for him to sit out this tie but he also said he needs time to prepare on the clay.

If they do go with Tsonga, Gasquet, Llodra & Benny it's a good team to get the win.

Melzer who is capable of winning both his rubbers, so it could come down to the Doubles match...
