We will know tomorrow at 11 o'clock (London time) which country will face in September for the play off of the DC.

According to current rankings, France can play:
Netherlands, Italy, South Africa, Ukraine, India, Uzbekistan, Ecuador or Brazil

So basically we have a pretty good shot, I think the only team there that has some what decent players is Italy...

Re: Articles, videos, news... about French tennis

I made a small mistake this morning, for some reason Brazil and India are seeded and not Romania and Chile; i did not catch their way of determinating the seed in this case, anyway it will be like this:
Quote:
The ITF has announced that the eight seeded nations for the 2009 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Play-off draw are:

Austria, Belgium, Brazil, France, India, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland.

The eight seeded nations will be drawn against one of the following unseeded nations:

Chile, Ecuador, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, South Africa, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
http://www.daviscup.com/news/newsart...rticleid=15932

Chile will not be a gift, France will have to play there.
They will play at home if they play against: Romania
They never played against Ecuador, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Probably they played outside France (Italy, Netherlands, Chile) and one the three others countries is pretty big. By the way, how does it work? Is it decide by poll for teams who never met?

Olga

France against the Netherlands should be a fun tie and maybe give me a good excuse to go to Holland again.

Q. You must have so many different emotions going through your head. Was it like a rollercoaster for you?
STANISLAS WAWRINKA: Yeah, yeah, it's quite crazy..I never expect to win a Grand Slam.
I never dream about that because for me, I was not good enough to beat those guy.

Maybe the sky will fall?

Re: Articles, videos, news... about French tennis

de rien Marion
I checked the first player is ranked in 140 something, all others are after the 200 rankings.

I am also interesting to go; to remember my times there, but I am waiting to know which city before taking my plane tickets. But is someone know when the choice of the city will be decided (Maybe Tess knows?)? Last time was in Rotterdam. And probably they have still some facilities in Apeldoorn, after I do not see others cities apart the ones form the Ranstadt.
Also, when tickets will be available? I am quite exicted by this draw in fact.
(seriously it is the best draw could happen for France and for me ).

Yeah the Dutch players are quite low ranked but they are a young team mostly with promise- like Huta Galung and De Bakker and I believe they have a reasonable doubles team. Of course, France should win though.

Re: Articles, videos, news... about French tennis

We should all meet up and stalk the Frenchies then you lived in Holland, Karine ?
My "family" (my sister's boyfriend actually) is in Delft, not far from Rotterdam. And I'll still be on holidays around 18th september

On the other hand, if they send Gicquel, Benneteau and Serra because all the others are injured (or something else....) I'm not witnessing that

I dont think they will go to Apeldoorn again because it is a bigger match this time (obviously France is more interesting than south korea) So I'm guessing it will be in Ahoy Rotterdam. Same place where the Rotterdam tournament is held. Not sure ofcourse.

I should add that besides Huta Galung and de Bakker, we also have Robin Haase but right now he is injured (and has been for 9 months) that's why his ranking is this low. But he might be back in the top 100 by the time DC is here. Who know

I'm really excited I'm definitely going

and I will be supporting france.

I lived 2 and half years there, and I was sad to leave from there. Delft is a beautiful town but I was in the complete east part .

Definitely, we should meet, I was a bit worried to go alone (you know is more boring) but would be really funny, the MTF to support the French team
