I think that MU now only allow one d/l of any file at a time, but that's just a guess from watching the filemanager when people are saying they're getting the same message with my files
This was a 5 minute d/l (thanks Fran ) and I only had to wait a couple of minutes for it

Re: Articles, videos, news... about French tennis

There's too much Gaël in comparison with the others, but they had probably planned to follow him on his vacation. And since he also is the one who reached the final of Bercy, it ends up with loads of Gaël.

When they show Jo in London, he tells them he has absolutely nothing to say. Nada. Before entering the O2 he adds: "Gaël must be having fun right now..." And bing, back to Gaël on the jetski, dancing, etc.

The good thing with the episodes focussing on Gaël is that there isn't much to translate since most of the Gaël stuff plays with his funny faces, etc.
Each time he introduces a family member or a friend to the camera crew in Bercy, he says that they need a decoder (Canal is a pay TV channel available only with decoder).
The sequence with the gf is cute, he gently pokes fun at her because she just told him that Stepanek plays S&V as if it was a big scoop.
The little girl he plays with in Guadeloupe is his stepsister who lives there with his father.
But most things are self-explanatory, I guess.
And at the very end, he says to the camera "by the way: see you next year!", I think everybody got that part!

Re: Articles, videos, news... about French tennis

well I would have liked a bit more Richard but I have the feeling that he wasn't inclined to talk to them. Hopefully next year. This year's episodes have kind of been the Gael show but he is a very engaging character so it's not a bad thing.

Thanks to all of you who have posted translations btw. I really appreciate it.

What's wrong with him? Normally he is such a crowd pleaser, he could have said "How great it is to be there!

He shows once again, even if it wasn't needed, that he always says what he thinks and that he is a honest person. I don't see anything wrong with that. Hadn't we agreed something together about Tsonga btw, Margareta ?

Re: Articles, videos, news... about French tennis

I just translated in Gilles' forum his "portrait" in Libé a few weeks ago, I know the ones about Richard and Jo, but I guess there were other tennis players, does anybody remember who else was in this column? Even old ones, PHM, Seb, Arnaud, Fabrice, etc. - I don't know how to search on the website of Libé.

Here are the 3 I know (they were already posted in their respective player forums):
Richard: http://www.liberation.fr/portrait/01...-dans-son-camp
Jo: http://www.liberation.fr/portrait/01...as-si-bon-gars
Gilles: http://www.liberation.fr/sports/0101...passe-au-tamis

Re: Articles, videos, news... about French tennis

Thanks a lot, I had only seen Gilles' ! Richard's portrait is a bit old (he was 20 at the time) but Jo's one is spot on in my opinion. Very interesting, Libé has very good writers.

I find it weird that they didn't do Gaël, when he has the most complex personality of the four so he should be of some interest for them, but I have no idea how to search on their site either.

they are not all so good

Yes, Gasquet's portrait is quite old, I don't think journalists would make the same kind of portrait now ... but personally I learnt quite many things I didn't know

Probably Monfils will have his portrait sooner or later ... if he hasn't had his already (for instance after Roland-Garros 2008)

About Simon's, the writer is different (a little bit too pompous imo ), and I guess it's in this article that Simon was spoken about piano, and now he says everytone tells him about "great sportsman who is also a pianist " while he says "piano and me are two very different concerns"

useless old guy

Living abroad, I don't have much occasions to read Libé so I wouldn't know but they definitely get more sympathy from me than le Figaro for some reason
What I like about them is that, not being a sports specialist newspaper, they write with a very sociological view of the personalities, an objective and exterior point of view of someone who doesn't especially follow tennis.

I still like Simon's portrait, the style is indeed different but it's refreshing. It's a bit over-dramatic at times but some passages are well-written "Gilles Simon arrive, repart, revient, repart écumer les coursives à la recherche d’un paquet de bonbons, le trouve, affale son mètre quatre-vingt-cinq sur un canapé, s’étonne." I like that style.
I don't know if Libé were the firsts to say that Gillou was a prodigy concertist It's the kind of urban legend which runs in the profession

What did you learn about Richard for example ?

Thanks Fran, for the links to the articles and for translating Gilles' piece. Was there a translation of the other 2 articles by any chance already posted somewhere? I would like to read that. But please, don't trouble yourself to translate them if there isn't a translated version around already. I'll try to figure out myself.

Edit: no, that's not true, I can't figure out myself , who am I kidding. But my interest in the other 2 is no comparison to my interest in Gilles, so it's no big deal if I can't understand their articles .

Re: Articles, videos, news... about French tennis

I didn't see any translation in their player forums, no. It's too bad because I also prefer the ones of Mathiot, Gilles' one is too pompous for my liking too. When he said last time that the media have a certain image of him and that they will always write the same story whatever he might tell them, I immediately thought of the Libé article too.
I remember I found the Richard one pretty informative back then, it was full of little things I didn't know about his background, his political views, etc.

I searched on Google ("tennis site:http://www.liberation.fr/portrait"), but didn't find any other (male) French tennis player except Fabrice. His is old (2002) and there's nothing really new after the 649 tributes we've read this year: http://www.liberation.fr/portrait/01...coupe-au-carre
But the search is not exhaustive, it doesn't show the ones about Jo and Gilles.

(The one about Tati is not bad, I didn't know she was rumoured to have dated Muzza?! It doesn't mean it's true, it's really just in a list of rumours with the other usual names - but Muzza was new to me.)
