Of course, but he should be hoping to play late into the USOpen, then just one week off, then Davis Cup on Clay in Russia, then Thailand on indoor the week right after? You would think he would want to rest before Madrid, I just don't think it's a smart decision for him at all.

He played a lot of touranments back to back in US in Feb and March. I don't see why u are worried about his fitness.

Plus u cannot just win at home and say that you are world no 5. He needs to prove he can play in others countries. Thats the reason he is playing here.

As for fitness, I think you are underestimating the strain that flying halfway around the world puts on the mind and body. It's just an unnecessary tournament for him as most of his points are coming from optionals anyway.
