Re: Ryan Sweeting

Good to see from the pics that that terrible facial hair from the AO qualies is gone!

Since Sweeting won the 2nd of the final round of qualifying matches, wouldn't he then be in the 2nd qualifier spot against Istomin in the 1st round of the main draw?

Although his record against Verdasco and Istomin is the same, Verdasco might be a tougher opponent for Sweeting. Sure, Verdasco did pretty badly in 2012, but with the righty-lefty matchup and Verdasco's strong forehand...that would be the match I would want to avoid in the first round.

Soon to be a moot point though anyway, I suppose.

Re: Ryan Sweeting

Sweeting faces Istomin, last year's SAP Open finalist. Istomin has beat him twice out of the 2 times they've played, last time was in Sydney in 2012 where Istomin won 6-2, 6-1. But, Istomin is not the most consistent of player's either, yet has started the year well. Still, I think that Sweeting can definitely test him. But, if Sweeting were to win it, he would have to win in 3 tight sets. Anyway's really hoping for a good match! Let's go Ryan!

Re: Ryan Sweeting

Lost to Istomin 3-6, 4-6. Not a bad match for Ryan, competitive scoreline, and didn't lose games at love.

Unfortunately it seems like he won't play Memphis next week. He was unable to make it into the qualifying draw on his ranking. He is an alternate, yet it's unlikely he'll get into the qualifying draw with 3 alternates above him.

You know I haven't read those thread before! But Delray Beach isn't a Challenger!

Re: Ryan Sweeting

He got a qualifying WC into Miami! Draw should be out VERY soon! Super happy for him though, it's definitely well deserved. Few tennis player's come from the Miami area, and he does (Fort Lauderdale)! Hopefully he'll play well so he can represent the community!

Re: Ryan Sweeting

Faces Dudi Sela, Sela beat him in 3 sets the only time they played last March. If he makes it past that match he will likely face Russell for a spot in the MD. I think Sela is definitely winnable as is Russell.

C'mon! He needs some good wins under his belt as confidence booster. He's at the point where his ranking doesn't even allow him into the Qualifying Draw, that needs to change! Good luck!

Re: Ryan Sweeting

Lost 4 and 4 to Sela. But, a good fight in the second set when he was down 0-4, came back to 4-5, on serve. Unfortunately, he just couldn't level it on serve. But, there were some positives.

Re: Ryan Sweeting

I am disappointed that Ryan is not in Houston. He usually does well there and has quarterfinal points to defend.

Re: Ryan Sweeting

He's also not on the Tallahassee entry list, but would've entered it if healthy. I read on twitter that that he has an ongoing shoulder injury. : (

He dropped 12 spots in the rankings, now ranked 197 and falling because he's not defending 2012 Houston QF points. Just terrible news altogether, I feel so bad for him. : ( A while back, a year or more, when his ranking was rising, in a press conference he was asked if he was making a living. Sweeting smiled and said yes. But, I wonder if that's true. Just a random statement, but I really hope he's not struggling money wise. More importantly is for him to get healthy!

Re: Ryan Sweeting

He's on the roster for tonight's Sacramento Capitals World Team Tennis match against the Texas Wild! Unfortunately, no there's live streaming for tonight's match up, but there will be streaming for Wednesday's Sac Caps game against Orange County. Glad to see that he's back playing!
