Okay, the reason was food poisoning.

Re: Ryan Sweeting

Saw Sweeting play a small charity exo on Sept. 22nd with Robert Kendrick. He looked pretty healthy then. The food poisoning comes at an unfortunate time, for sure. Hopefully, Sweeting can play a few more challengers this fall and improve his ranking before the Aussie Open.

He has only 35 points to defend for the rest of the year (Tiburon Challenger). He can still make the AO maindraw if he do well in the next couple of tournaments I think. And welcome to MTF .

Re: Ryan Sweeting

Thanks, SapELee! I'm curious as to whether Sweeting will also play the smaller events like Knoxville and Champaign. Is the increase in AO prize money added motivation to do well at challengers this fall, or is it more about the big picture?

Re: Ryan Sweeting

I think he needs to play Tiburon, Charlottesville, Knoxville and Champaign really. Will likely need about 170 points to make the cut.

Re: Ryan Sweeting

He's already out 6-1 6-2 to Farah, kinda difficult 1rd though, looks like he's going to have a tough road ahead if he wants to make the AO MD.

Re: Ryan Sweeting

Ryan lost 46 46, didn't play well. From the challenger forum, it was said that he is still recovering from a back surgery and shoulder problems.

Finally won a match 75 63, I think he was down 1-5 in the first set.

Re: Ryan Sweeting

Seems like that mini-break killed it mentally for Sweeting and then Williams's net cord in 5th game of the 2nd set really drove in the dagger. Not a great way for him to end the season, but still a much better performance than in Tiburon or Charlottesville.

Also, Sweeting got a warning for what I thought was some pretty mild racquet abuse, but nothing for Williams's junk grab??

Yeah, I thought that was kinda weak. I'm actually surprised Rhyne didn't get any warnings. I'm so used to seeing him getting penalties/warnings in like every match. He is probably the most penalized young American (very temperamental). It is a good thing he is not that well known yet or the media would be all over him. I'm quite disappointed that Rhyne didn't break any racket though (something that I always look forward to besides the primal screams )
