Re: Tim Smyczek Thread

Tim just downed world #37 and ATP 500 Hamburg champ Golubev 63 76!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In Rogers Cup qualies. Amazing win He's been lights out lately. I really hope he can qualify for the md. That will be HUGE. USO wildcard would be very possible if that happens. I encourage everyone to watch this guys game. Not a lot of weapons, but an amazing scrappy baseliner who can pop winners from anywhere

Re: Tim Smyczek Thread

Smee defeated Chase Buchanan first round, then Alex Domijan second round, then stomped (2) Ryan Harrison in the final round 64 64 64

Looks like a tremendous performance. Main draw of USO is huge for Tim, and well deserved. Whatta win over Harrison. Let's hope for a good draw.

I think this is the best he has been playing since I started this thread a LONG time ago

Re: Tim Smyczek Thread

This Tim is good. My brave prediction would be to see him near top 50 by the end of 2012 season.

Mardy Fish!

Brian Baker - Steve Johnson - Lleyton Hewitt - Carlos Berlocq - Tommy Haas - Ivo Karlovic - Richard Gasquet - Kevin Anderson - David Ferrer - Michael Russell - Fabio Fognini - Dustin Brown - Somdev Devvarman

Re: Tim Smyczek Thread

He lost to Monfils in San Jose, then had to retire in Memphis against Russell. Hope its nothing major might just be a little fatigue. Hopefully he'll continue to have some positive results.

Re: Tim Smyczek Thread

Sock and Smyczek upset seeds to advance into Quarterfinals

Quote:
Tim Smyczek upset No. 4 Alex Kuznetsov, 6-3, 6-3, for his spot in the quarterfinals.

“We know each others game very well,” said Smyczek who trains together with Kuznetsov at the Saddlebrok Resort in Tampa Florida. “Today, I think I was feeling a little bit better, moving a little better.”

“He just got the better of me today,” said Kuznetsov, No. 167, last year’s singles Honolulu finalist who recently lost to Rafafel Nadal in the first round of the Australian Open.

“Perhaps the conditions at our last few tournaments were better for my game,” said Smyczek who has won their last three encounters. “We are very close in ability and I don’t think anyone would be surprised if either one of us won against each other but the last couple have gone my way.”

He will take on No.7 Yuichi Sugita from Japan tomorrow.
