Saw him play qualifying rounds in Houston. Didn't know what to expect given his less than stellar results in futures. (I'm sure the stress fracture in his foot was a factor this year.)
Actually looked really solid. Beat Novikov 6-4, 6-3 before losing to Matthew Barton 7-6, 6-1. He got pretty down on himself after a couple of double faults in the 1st set tiebreaker. Went into the main draw draw as lucky loser where he lost to Querrey 6-4, 7-6. Also won a round in doubles with Tommy Paul before losing to the Bryans.
His confidence could be a little better. Given his size, I think he plays a good aggressive type of tennis. (Probably somewhere between Karlovich and Isner in terms of coming to the net and ending points quickly) I think if he can stay healthy, he'll have a really successful career.
