I'm not sure I would agree with that. I'm totally against Donald Young hogging up all the U.S. wild cards this year, but in principle I agree with the USTA trying to help out young players, instead of journeymen (I just think they should be helping out 18 year-olds who showed promise in the juniors & are full-time pros rather than over-hyped 15 year-olds.) Sure exceptions should be made for players like James Blake (who isn't a journeyman in any sense), but generally if a player hasn't taken advantage of his opportunities (wild cards, etc.) by the time he's 21-22 (maybe a little older if he stayed in college), he shouldn't continue to get freebies (prize money, points) at the expense of younger players. I have nothing against Goldstein, but he & his peers got their fair share of wild cards when they were younger & it's time for someone else to have a chance (not Donald Young).

Re: Paul Goldstein

What's the point in giving WCs to young players that are going to get clobbered? I don't think it helps them.

Paul is a good player, he'd put them to good use.

Go PAUL! Hopefully he'll do well here at Wimby

Chris Fowler had one of the Goldstein bobbleheads in the ESPN2 studio this morning. Taylor Dent was jealous he didn't have one.

Re: Paul Goldstein

Bet they don't look a thing like him, but I want one anyway.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

No they don't, but I want one too. I want him to sign it. Maybe he'll play qualifying at Washington since he's from there?

I think I'm going

Re: Paul Goldstein

I think I've seen him ONCE. It was at the US Open a LONG time ago.

And thanks for the heads up... Fox Sports can be really odd so I'm not sure if I'll actually get it... but I'm hoping so

Re: Paul Goldstein

Fox Sports is odd b/c it's got different regional versions, not like ESPN which is the same nationwide. For example in LA I get Fox Sports West and Fox Sports West 2. There's also a Fox Sports Bay Area. When I was home, I remember watching Newport on FSN New England. It's just bizarre.

oh and I'm pretty sure I've never ever seen Paul on TV. Saw him in person last year though lol

Re: Paul Goldstein

KBF, run a search at http://tv.yahoo.com (keyword tennis) and it will tell you which Fox Sports you get and what time they will show tennis (some of their affiliates do it on tape if there's a baseball game to show).

S., thanks for the article. I want a bobblehead doll!!!!

Don't know if they are actually being sold yet, but if I get one, I'll try to get one for you too. I think Blake has one now too, check his website (jamesblaketennis.com). Is Andy's still available?
