It's a big upset in the sense that Kozlov has been tapped for greatness and was one of the favorites to take the title while Shropshire is very much unknown.
It's not such a big upset in the sense that it's a physically developed and mature 18 yr old beating a 15 yr old.
But when you say Shropshire performed well on the ITF circuit, do you mean he sometimes made it through qualifying and won a couple first round main draw matches in futures? I'd say that's good enough to be able to pull the upset but not good enough to say it's not a big upset.
Nah, it was a serious question because i never saw Shropshire play but i read his name often last weeks.
If you compare his results then i wouldn't say this is a massive and big upset. Of course Kozlov is much bigger talent but he is still 15 yo and he won't play everytime like he did against Przysiezny in Newport. His results - besides Newport - are weak, of course good for his age, but maybe a lot of people forget that he is still 15 yo and could be tough to play a guy who is 3-4 years older.
But i see a lot of good names in Kalamazoo. Tough to say who will win it. I really think Farren, Redlicki or Rubin will make it.
