I'd say he's a solid 6'-2".

Maybe 6'-2 1/2", he is almost as tall as Mahut who is 6'-3"

He looks fitter than I've ever seen him look. I guess he's been squeezing in some workouts between fishing trips. Hhahaahhaha

Those are good highlights. Thanks for posting.

I wish Rhyne didn't run around his backhand so much. I realize that his forehand is a bigger weapon -- and I think his forehand is just a gorgeous stroke -- but he actually has a solid backhand. It isn't a total liability like James Blake's or something. I feel like his backhand could also develop into a weapon, but that's never gonna happen if he doesn't have the confidence in it to just stay put and hit the ball with his backhand rather than running around and hitting a forehand.

I also think he falls in love with his slice backhand a little too much. I'll at least give him credit for improving that shot, as it does appear he is getting into deeper into the court than he was several months ago. But he does better when he just rips it.

This is probably the main reason why I was disappointed in his performance against Kudla. He simply refused to hit the backhand on a regular basis.

Edit: I also think he has a very nice looking stroke. I loved viewing his topspin forehand from this angle.

He has come a long way, but still has some work to do. Needs to work on that tummy of his

Evey time I think of Rhyne, I envision a guy with a beer in one hand and a fishing rod in the other with a dog by his side

Got to battle today with one of my all time favorites, Lleyton Hewitt. Such a fun experience. Thanks for all the Southern support!

Quote:
Rain–or lack thereof–finally allowed the BB&T Atlanta Open to put on a show, and it did just that. Wednesday action was wild from start to finish, and it began with 32-year-old Lleyton Hewitt scraping past American wild card Rhyne Williams 7-6(6), 6-4. Williams saved a set point at 3-5 in the opener then broke back for 5-5 before it was Hewitt’s turn to mount a comeback. The Aussie trailed 6-2 in the ensuing tiebreaker only to win six straight points and steal it 8-6. Williams steadied himself to hold his first four service games of the second set with ease, but Hewitt capitalized on the only break point of the set at 5-4 to clinch victory. Link
Yeah, Rhyne is in love with his backhand slice.

For a guy, he really has a smooth face.

Family Ties

Since Rhyne will be out of action until Cincy, might be a good time to talk a little bit about his family.

Couisns, William and Matthew Rose (with Christopher in the middle) showing support for Rhyne at Citiopen. Willy and Matt are sons of Tim and Margaret Williams Rose. If you recall, Tim is the CEO of UVA Foundation. And guess who Rhyne played in the first round, none other than UVA's legend, Somdev Devvarman. What a small world.

Rhyne has two sisters, Jennifer (older) and Caitlyn (younger). Jennifer played college tennis at Birmingham-Southern and Caitlyn is part of the Tennessee Lady Vol team. I believe Jen is getting married this week.
