Don't know what to expect from Blumberg here. Hope he is healthy and can win some matches.

The Boys 18s Nationals at Kalamazoo have been hit hard by withdrawals, with Thai Kwiatkowski and Spencer Papa dropping out prior to the draw, and three more high-profile players withdrew today. Eighth seed Michael Mmoh, who was to make his Kalamazoo debut, is out with a abdominal injury, while JC Aragone and Christian Langmo, two of the more highly regarded unseeded players, also withdrew.
too bad Get well soon Michael

I am extremely impressed with 14 y.o. John McNally, playing the 16s: http://ustaboys.secantnet.net/

Good serve, good forehand, solid backhand.

Pretty good match between Wiersholm and Nardella thus far.

Henrik has the same forehand as R. Williams Very similar set up. He has pretty good pop for his size; also good court coverage, anticipation, speed, and hands. Nice all court game.

And they switched to Paul Oosterbaan's match Seriously, do they need to cover his match every single day?

Anyway, Henrik won 76 63. His forehand technique is almost identical to Williams'. He is like a mini Rhyne when he goes for it especially late in the 1st set Even though he is not big, he can generate a pretty decent pace b/c of his technique.

Please never stop being so amazing about recording matches. I just recently got my first "real" job so now I can only watch a small fraction of the tennis that I have the past few years.

I'm in a similar boat haha. I have a job, but I'm supposed to be even busier. Should be studying for an engineering license exam, but so far haven't even touch a book

That's going to be me with studying for the LSAT soon enough. If only watching tennis players could be all of our jobs. They'd have to try and stop us from working overtime!

Impressive double bagel by Kozlov over Tyler Lu, who reached the 4th round last year. Lu took 9 games off of Gage Brymer, the #1 seed, last month.

And then he loses in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(5) in the next round dang, he could have had a really good tournament too.

On a side note, why would the live coverage choose to cover the start of the number 1 seed's match over the conclusion of the upset of the 3rd seed when the latter is right in front of the camera? That doesn't make any sense. There aren't even any local kids on that court.

Quote:
Philly native and incoming freshman at Northwestern Sam Shropshire took out Stefan Kozlov at Kalamazoo in straight sets 6-4, 7-6. Using a constant barrage of serve and volley as well as an astute ability to get in on Kozlov's serve, Shropshire took out the player many thought was a lock to win the tournament. Shropshire who only played about 20 matches in the last year is a tier one athlete who started playing higher level tennis later and is one of the few players coming in regularly to the net.
