Steve won his match in straight sets and will play Gulbis. This will be a very tough match and I don't fancy his chances, but good luck. At least he will be on televised court this time.
USC graduate and reigning two-time NCAA singles champion Steve Johnson won his first round encounter against Rajeev Ram, a great result for the newly announce full-time pro. Johnson, a Southern California native, won four NCAA national team titles with USC while also pursuing professional events during the summer. He and partner Jack Sock defeated doubles top seeds Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor yesterday.
