Lovely draw for either Murray or Karlovic and maybe Fish if he beats Flip in the quarters to win a title here
Crappy doubles draw for Auckland/Burgsmuller against the top seeds

Jamie Baker, Ross Hutchins, Richard Bloomfield, Colin Fleming
Roddick, Goffin, Karlovic, Inglot, Isner

Re: Main Draw

This could be the single worst field for an ATP event I've ever seen.

But Anyway, good luck Mardy

I'd be interested to know if it's ever happened before that a player has gone from being a wildcard entry due to not high enough ranking one year to top seed the next at a given tournament...

Andy Murray, Jonny Marray
Jamie Baker, Ross Hutchins, Richard Bloomfield, Colin Fleming
Roddick, Goffin, Karlovic, Inglot, Isner
Brown, Brands, Tsonga

Good luck Andy
Alex

Behrend playing when there's clay events available? He played clay events the 2 weeks before Wimbledon, skipped Wimbledon, but is in Newport? Weird.

Nice to see Kendrick get a WC. Maybe he was going to get one anyway, but his showing against Nadal at Wimbledon likely got him this WC. Philppoussis getting another WC though? I'm surprised Donald Young didn't get in there first

I assume Newport was the only one his current ranking allowed him to get a direct entry.

That could be the case but it usually wouldn't stop him playing clay when there's clay Challengers or qualifying to play.

As I'm saying this he'll probably win the whole event now

For some of the guys it's tough to become a challenger journeyman again after having experienced the ATP level. So I assume he just wants to get that feeling of playing a first-rate tournament again (or maybe because of the prize money), even if it's played on his least favoured surface.

Re: Main Draw

I see Baghdatis pulled out and the organisers decided to give Kendrick the remaining Wildcard. It was about time he got one. Good luck for your first round match Robert!

How many WC can one person get?? It seems like Philoppoussis has received more than his fair share...it's time to for others to get the oppurtunity to play in the Main Draws. He should go and play qualies like all the others "strugglers".
