1st round is really okay..will slovenia choose clay???

Zemlja and KAvcic are their only higher ranked players, 120th and 121th (ranking neighbors)
both prefer clay i think. Will be tough on clay away..but not impossible
I guess it must be indoor clay then, the tie is at the beginning of March. They might go for carpet also...

Italy would be at home

Re: Davis Cup

could be too tough for Finland...this KAvcic is much stronger then Henri Kontinen and even can trouble Jarkko a lot.He nearly beat Youzhny on Hardcourts.....okay Zagreb his nice result was also on hard but he really knows to play tennis...
and Zemlja should be a lot better then Kontinen on clay....so Jarkko needs to win all of his matches...this looks to heavy...and Zemlja took a 5-sitter out of Baghdatis....
no idea how finland will win this???

Allways Good luck to:

Re: Davis Cup

Yes, Clay is just brutal for Finns, so going to be really tough and Henkka not playing well recently makes it even harder, but it's not like his claygame would likely be enough for Zemlja and Kavcic anyway... But obviously in good form doubles might be easier than it will be if he doesn't find his game.

Re: Davis Cup

Players have been named, Jarkko, Henri, Harri and Micke. Gotta wonder why Harri is even in team, just not any good results in clay and Timo seems to be in OK form right now. So I'm thinking they are considering to play him in doubles? But then again it's hard to believe they'd not play doubles Jarkko-Henri pairing.

Re: Davis Cup

Henri won't be playing in Davis cup because of his Wrist and won't be playing tennis in next two months -.-. Timo will replace him in Davis cup. Source (in finnish)

I Still have some faith in Jarkko and doubles (likely Harri-Jarkko there). Wonder who'll they play in singles. Clay being Micke's best surface so they might actually go with him, but also according Harri's blog Timo was dominating his opponents in training (and after that lost in very pathetic way to Lejnieks who he first beat 6-0 in training... ) So he just may be Jokercard to play. Harri probably not playing in first game at least, he must be fresh for doubles since they can't afford to loose that game. I think it's really tough call who will play in second game too, they just might go with one who seems to be in best form .

Re: Davis Cup

Jarkko won and Harri is fighting great!
Jarkko has to win all 3 to give finnland the win..but there is hope in here!

Re: Davis Cup

Jarkko won as expected. Harri lost , I think it was promising match since I felt Harri had some things to improve there and still it wasn't complete overkill. For example a bit better serving in sets 2, 3 and it could have even tighter.
