Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players

I'm curious if Nieminen can give Roger a close match... Nieminen seems to be in great form at the moment, IMO his best since returning from his injury....

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players

I expected a win against Srichaphan, but I didn't expect that Jarkko didn't lose his serve. But okay, I hate watching Federer-matches in general and I would hate it even more if he made some arrogant and easy win against Jarkko.

come on Jarkko, you had set point against him last year and you can do it again!!!

one really bad thing is, that Jarkko stays the only finnish player, who scored in year 2005, cause Juho Paukku lost his first match in GBR F2 against top-seed Lee Childs.

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players

important note from Jarkko on the Federer match:

"The match starts from 0-0."

Go Jarkko Me, I didn't expect a win over Paradorn at all, so I am quite pleased

What is up with Tuomas.. Is he injured?

He's not injured, cause he played a finnish indoor league match on 01/14/05:
TaTS – Sata 4-0
Tuomas Ketola TaTS – Ilkka Riikonen Sata 6-4,6-0, Lauri Kiiski TaTS – Harri Heliövaara Sata 6-3,6-0, Martin Rämmal TaTS – Juuso Nousiainen Sata 6-1,6-0
Miikka Kangas/Kiiski TaTS – Heliövaara/Riikonen Sata 6-0,7-6(5)

Maybe he didn't play the AusOpen cause he played from January to December last year.

For the following weeks, he is on the alternate list in Wrexham and on the main draw list of Wolfsburg (in two weeks).

Lassi Ketola will play Future F4 and F5 in Germany and also Paukku will play Germany F5.

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players

Poor Jarkko, he had to retire. Not that he was gonna win anyway.

By the way I'm Margaret, started supporting Jarkko since Sydney a few weeks ago. He was so nice when I got his photo and autograph, and he likes the same soccer team as mine (Manchester United)

Maybe the only bad thing about him, that he likes ManU.

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players

What was the reason for his retirement? Severe injury? Again his wrist?
Since the end of the 1st set, I had so heavy storms, mixture of snow and rain while this match was on that it affected my satellite dish that much that I couldn't receive the channel anymore so I couldn't see the end myself....

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players

He will have to rest about 2-3 weeks. So Jarkko can't participate in Delray Beach-tournament, which begins on 31. January. But let's hope the best, that Jarkko is gonna get well soon.

By the way, he was supposed to be the 7th seed at Delray Beach, pity...There would have been a good chance to get a lot of ATP-points and get the ranking even more better. But I'm very impressed, how much Jarkko's playing has got better! If he played like this on hard, it's nice to wait for the claycourt-season...

If you`re not gonna shoot, you`ll always miss.

yeah, really bad news. I didn't expect such a long rest for him. AND Delray Beach has an easier entry list than Scottsdale and Memphis .

But I hope he will be at least in a good shape for Scottsdale, Memphis and GHANA!!!

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players

Really late reply,,, but kat is right. I was watching Jurgen, because I had already made up my mind about the outcome of Jarkko vs Paradorn! LOL Im glad I was wrong.
Have you guys seen the pictures of Jarkko during the Roger match on getty? god, I can hardly look at them. To see a grown man in that much agony, is . On the other hand, if you can stick it out until page 2 loads, there are some awesome shots

I'm finding it rather ironic, that Jarkko gets through two rounds of qualifying in Sydney, with two withdrawals from injury, and the next week it happens to him

I think that hat hair works for Jarkko... seriously. I'm sure kat will understand!

I'm beginning to think his hair is getting too long for that spikey look though! maybe he needs to start queuing for a haircut!
