holy crap, they had at least 3 MPs on serve and at least 5 overall. Unvelievable loss yet again.

Didn't watch the match, don't know if it was streamed anyway, but the serve stats are very very good and the return stats aren't that bad either and it looks like the better team lost.
But if they had 5 wasted match points then I'm sorry but they are mental midgets against the Serbians.
I just hope they won't take it too badly(guys, music is much more important ) because if they play like today in NY there's no reason they can't get at least to the finals. Again, I didn't watch the match so I just assume they played great.

Carole was there, maybe zookeeper too, I'm sure they'll tell us what happened I thought they'd lose easily after being bageled, but how can they have so many MPs ON SERVE and not convert Nestor and Zimonjic aren't the only team they've had trouble closing these matches out against.

Yeah, they have been pretty weak in that department this year, remember the French Open semis?
I've never really considered the twins as a very mentally strong team to be honest. Sure, they are above average but there have always been stronger pairs IMO.
But this year it's a bit more noticeable and it may have lost them some matches or titles here and there.

They played well. Much better than yesterday. I really thought they were going to win. I think it probably was a mental thing. I'm not sure how they didn't close some of those points.

Yes they did. They had the match pretty much won but lost it.

There was no need for that match to go to a super TB, they could have, and should have won in two. They played so much better than the night before, and just gave it away .

I just wish more people would stay to watch doubles, though I have to admit some nights I was surprised at the number of people who stay. Of course doesn't say much, when one of the sponsors, right after the singles final, says "and this concludes 2 weeks of tennis"

Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into flame by another human being.
Each of us owes deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this light

I know I couldn't believe the tournament director said that. I think he's old and senile.

Re: The "Here's to a Healthy 2009" Cheering Thread!

Doubles' popularity is really low these days, even the masters events are not shown anywhere on tv\internet.
Which is really strange considering you've got probably the best pair of all time and then you've got another very good pair who beats the twins consistently.
There's a big rivalry between them and it should get much more coverage.

I don't know why they don't show more doubles. They could at least show more on Tennis Channel. It is a channel all about Tennis. Maybe if they showed more doubles on TV more people would like it.

Re: The "Here's to a Healthy 2009" Cheering Thread!

what's funny/ironic is that they showed like the LA, Indy, DC doubles, but not the Masters events probably b/c of the rights issues. If the ATP itself is treating doubles like the ugly step-child it's hard to imagine the rest of the sport following suit
