Yes, WC to Tipsarevic, he's also playing Buenos Aires and São Paulo.

Good decision imho, those tournaments are better for him to improve his ranking. European indoor season is tougher.

Good for Tipsarevic perhaps, but I have no idea why these tournaments are giving him WCs. I doubt a single person will show up because of him, whereas there are plenty of deserving Argentinians or Brazilians. I assume Souza will still get one, but then there is only one left.

^ I kinda got the other 2 due to weak entry lists and he's at least a known name. But bizarre for an event with 2 top 10 players and several young up and coming kids from the country.

Norwegian Casper Ruud has apparently received a WC to the main draw according to his Facebook page.

Re: Rio de Janeiro Entry List/Fact Sheet (updated January 11, 2017)

I again refer to post #7.

It will be hard to take me seriously with the Norwegian flag, but at least they have the possibility of locking in a potential top player as part of the deal. Most likely it is just an IMG thing though.

He's a former top 10 player and a known name. I'd rather watch him than Ramos Vinolas or Carreno Busta tbh.

And the Ruud WC is totally a IMG thing - WCs like that happened before with Marti (São Paulo, 2012) and Ymer (Rio de Janeiro, 2015).

About the new kids, none of them really deserves the last WC right now. I don't think they'll give it to Souza though.

Bellucci once bageled Novak Djokovic and still managed to lost the match.

SE candidates here:

1 Berlocq 77 (1st alt in Rio)
2 Ebden @111 (I think the PR counts)

Del Potro ** Verdasco ** Monfils ** Dolgopolov ** Lopez ** Karlovic ** Schwartzman ** Muller ** Pierre-Hugues Herbert

and other all time greats: Sampras, Ivanisevic, Rafter, Johansson.. list goes on..
