Latest news from our guy!!!
No. 1 int the world!
It is not good that I have slided down to 105th place on the singles ranking this week. Have to do something about that soon, for sure. But this is much better - this week I became ranked as the worlds best individual doubles player! This is the 47th week that I am ranked as best in the world, which places me in a total 9th place since 1983. Mark Knowles is second, Max Mirnyi 6th, and fellow Swede Simon Aspelin is 19th.
Did just some running last week, didn´t play any tennis. Before that I had 10 intensive weeks on tour, and from Rome this weekend I will go into another tough ten-week-period, so I think it was the right thing to do to take it easy and rebuild my strength. My physical trainer Daniel Hedin is in Monte Carlo this week, pushing me to train harder before going to Rome on Friday. I will play both singles and doubles.
Bad weather has caused some trouble in Monte Carlo, but it looks like Max Mirnyi and I will play in the second round today, Wednesday. After this tournament I will train for two weeks in Monte Carlo, before going on to Rome, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Paris.
My favorite hockey team Leksand advanced to the top division, and my favorite football team Hammarby won their season opening game. A great week so far!
Great Swedish times
It is a great, exciting time of the year in Sweden now. My favorite hockey team Leksand is in top of the table in the qualification for a place in the elite league, and my favorite football team Hammarby has been looking sensationally good in the pre season. The football season kicks off this weekend, and after that it is an open road to the gold medals! I spend almost as much time on the phone and the Internet to check the latest results and rumours as I do on the tennis court now... It is great times indeed!
Movin´ on up
After a string of good results and the victory in Miami this weekend, Max Mirnyi and I have advanced to second place in the doubles ranking. Max is moving fast. He has climbed five positions to fourth place in the individual double players ranking.
