Re: Marcos in Asia-2nd stop Bangkok!

This is what the draw looks like:

1-I Ljubicic (CRO) vs F Vicente (ESP)
M Daniel (BRA) vs B Becker (GER)
D Udomchoke (THA) vs Qualifier
7-R Ginepri (USA) vs K Carlsen (DEN)

4-A Murray (GBR) vs T Henman (GBR)
A Bogdanovic (GBR) vs Y Wang (TPE)
Qualifier vs (WC)M Ledovskikh (RUS)
8-P Srichaphan (THA) vs WC-F Lopez (ESP)

5-J Nieminen (FIN) vs E Massa (ARG)
F Dancevic (CAN) vs Qualifier
R Mello (BRA) vs A Waske (GER)
3-J Blake (USA) vs WC-M Cilic (CRO)

6-J Ferrero (ESP) vs Qualifier
R Schuettler (GER) vs H Lee (KOR)
M Safin (RUS) vs K Kim (USA)
2-M Baghdatis (CYP) vs J Benneteau (FRA)

It's Bennetau again, but i have a feeling this is going to be third time lucky for Marcos!

Re: Marcos in Asia-2nd stop Bangkok!

Apparently,Marcos has withdrawn due to left shoulder injury during practice on Friday...
He waited to see if his shoulder will be OK or not and until today it didn't get better..
Iwabuchi replaced Marcos as a LL..

Quote:
Second-seeded Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus was forced to pull out of the Thailand Open with a right shoulder sprain. Baghdatis, who won his first career ATP title at the China Open in Beijing earlier this month, fell on his right shoulder during practice in Bangkok last week. His spot in the main draw is taken by the Japanese lucky loser Satoshi Iwabuchi.

"It's a big disappointment as I like to play in Asia and always do well here," said Baghdatis. "But unfortunately I cannot serve at all. My shoulder has been getting better with daily treatment but I cannot play in a match.

"I am extremely frustrated also because we have the race to (Tennis Masters Cup) Shanghai and I am among the Top 8 this week. I cannot earn any points here and there are players behind me who will have the chance to overtake me."

Baghdatis' next scheduled event is the AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships 2006 next week in Tokyo.

I think it's for the best..he has the other tournies to gather points..Even if Blake wins Bangkok, and the Mumbai final is Robredo vs Ancic,(which will leave Marcos no.10 in the Race 2 points behind Ancic and 1 behind Nalby) if he gets healthy again there are plenty of tournies and time,to fill his best of five, which Blake and Ancic already have done.

Get well Marco!!

Re: Marcos in Asia-2nd stop Bangkok!

Does Marcos have someone that works with him about conditioning? It seems he has been bothered a lot by injuries recently

Oh noo!!
It seems that the injury is more serious..
